About the Position:
This position is a Student Trainee (Industrial Equipment Worker) Intern with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, Operations Division. This program has specified formal training courses and on-the-job training requirements. Satisfactory grades must be achieved for advancement through the training program. The training program duration is 4 years.
This position has promotion potential to Power Plant Trainee IV, and following completion of the training program, advancement to a journeyman level power plant position as either Power Plant Operator, Power Plant Electrician, or Power Plant Mechanic.

The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.
The Department of the Army Pathways Interns may be converted to a permanent position within 120 days of successful completion of the program.
To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Interns must:
Be a U.S. Citizen
Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program
Complete their degree or certificate requirements
Meet the Office of Personnel Management's qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement, and;
Perform their job successfully as documented through performance evaluations and/or completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Positions are open to current students, within the local commuting area of the position , enrolled in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

Required to sign a Mobility Agreement Personnel Security Investigation is required Obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license Must continue to meet Pathways Internship Program requirements Pre-employment and random drug testing required Pre-employment and routine physical examinations required As a Student Trainee (Industrial Equipment Worker) Intern at a hydroelectric power plant, you will perform and train in the simple repetitive tasks of the trade, such as replacing parts, removing sub-assemblies from complex equipment, and making visual checks for damage. You will also perform basic maintenance activities on plant equipment to include cleaning, greasing, and painting. You will gain knowledge of power plant equipment, including turbine and gates, rotor and windings, high voltage electrical breakers, air compressor system, and fire suppression systems. You will operate electrical test equipment used in power production, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and Digital Test Equipment.
You will assist higher-graded employees in installation, maintenance, repair, and operation activities. To accomplish these activities, you will apply the ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, diagrams, drawings, manuals, and other technical information pertinent to hydroelectric power plant operation, maintenance, and repair. To qualify, no specific length of experience or training is required, however, you must be able to demonstrate through information provided in your resume that you possess sufficient knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the duties of this position with more than normal supervision. The qualification standard for this position is found in the Job Qualifications Systems for Trades and Labor Occupations (Handbook X-118C - Trades and Labor) published by the Office of Personnel Management.
Screen-Out Element: You must have aptitude and interest for learning trade theory and practice. Typical examples include (but are not limited to): 1) Utilizing hand tools to perform routine maintenance; OR 2) Maintaining care of equipment involving cleaning, greasing, or painting parts.

Employee frequently lifts, carries or otherwise handles items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally handles items greater than 50 pounds. Assistance is available with heavy items. Working Conditions:
Work is required to be performed both inside and outside and is subject to all extremes of weather. Incumbent is subjected to the danger of falls from scaffolds and slings, asbestos, carbon dust, fumes, electric shock, noise, moving machinery, close places in cramped positions, slippery conditions both water and grease, frequent travel, and other conditions expected from mechanical and electrical repair of power plant equipment. Incumbent is subject to abrasions, burns, cuts, and bruises common to the use of hand tools. Employee is required to observe established safe working procedures. Wearing of respirators, hard hats, hard toe footwear, gloves, goggles, face shields, rubber aprons, rain wear, and earplugs is mandatory in the performance of duties.
To be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Internship Program you must be enrolled at least half-time at an accredited academic institution for the duration of your appointment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
